Guide to Treetops Free School

Below is a brief guide to Treetops Free School for prospective parents and it gives an overview of what to expect from our school. Please consult the prospectus for a more detailed insight into how the school operates. Or if you prefer, come and pay us a visit and see for yourself how we are helping our pupils progress to their full potential.

  • Admissions – Pupils can be admitted throughout the academic year, but the majority will take up places at the beginning of the autumn term. Our admissions terms can be found on our policies page.
  • School policy and curriculum documents – Parents and others may gain access to a wide range of documents including the above and Department for Education and Skills Circulars, Governing Body’s Annual Reports, external qualifications and our most recent results by contacting the Headteacher at school.
  • Equal opportunities policy – The school’s aim is to demonstrate that we consider all pupils to be of equal value, regardless of race, gender, religion, cultural background or ability.
  • Pupils with disabilities – At Treetops, we aim to take the ‘dis’ out of ‘disability’. All pupils benefit from an entitlement to a full and varied curriculum, regardless of ability level.
  • School security – School security is always high up on our list of priorities. A balance has to be maintained between keeping the school’s friendly and welcoming atmosphere, while ensuring that pupils, staff, premises and property are safe.
  • Child protection – The school has the statutory obligation to liase with outside agencies should there be any reports or suspicions of abuse.
  • Medical attention – Should a pupil be ill or need any treatment during school-time, every effort will be made to contact parents and we will appreciate your support in these matters.
  • Destination of school leavers – Our school leavers will normally go into open employment, onto open courses or join a pre-foundation programme at South Essex College.
