KS1 to KS4
Pupils in Key Stages 1-4 follow the national curriculum, which has been suitably and individually adapted for their abilities by their class teachers. Key Stages 1 and 2 consist of four small classes which follow a more traditional primary model, whereby they are predominantly taught by their class teacher. For those with more complex needs in Key Stage 1, it is sometimes appropriate for pupils to follow a mixed model of the Early Years and Foundation Stage and National Key Stage 1 curricula. In Key Stage 3, the class sizes increase slightly and our pupils transition to a more secondary model. Although they continue mostly with their class teacher in Year 7, the number of specialist teachers is steadily increased into Year 9, so as to ease the transition. Students moving into Key Stage 4 are assessed at the end of Key Stage 3 across the curriculum by Subject Leaders and Key Stage Leaders to ascertain the most suitable levels of qualification for each individual to work towards. These group placements are subject to ongoing scrutiny to ensure that students are grouped appropriately and have the best possible opportunity of achieving the highest possible outcome for the individual. Pupils have the opportunity to study some of the below courses in Key Stage 4. For more details on the results obtained by our pupils in KS4, please click here.
